Co-founder Edgar Ball first began working with drones in the military. That experience planted the seed for something more meaningful—using drones for remembrance and tribute.
We started Drone Memorials to offer families a peaceful alternative to traditional ash scattering. Having witnessed how difficult and messy it can be to scatter ashes manually, we created a better way—through safe, respectful drone flights that bring beauty and dignity to every farewell.

How Do Drone Memorials Work?
Each memorial follows a safe, thoughtful standard process so families don’t have to organize or manage anything themselves.
Within that structure, families may add personal touches — music, a prayer, a speech, or a few meaningful words before the send-off.
If attending in person, a family member may even choose to press the button to release the ashes.
Spiritual guides may be brought or arranged, and special requests are always discussed in advance and carried out with care.

Yes, cremated ashes can be legally scattered on most public lands in British Columbia, including Crown land, oceans, rivers, and lakes. However, drone flights are not permitted in federal or provincial parks.
We can assist you choose nearby legal alternatives, or scatter your ashes by hand, even in difficult to reach places.
For municipal lands, local bylaws may apply. We take the guesswork out of the process by reviewing all regulations and securing any required permissions on your behalf.
Yes, ashes can be scattered on private property as long as the owner grants permission. If you have a meaningful location in mind—such as a family farm, favorite retreat, or private waterfront—we will seek permission from the property owner on your behalf and ensure everything is handled respectfully and legally.
Manual scattering often results in blowback. Ash is extremely fine, and wind conditions make it unpredictable. Our drones ensure a smooth, respectful release without the mess or stress.
Yes, both. You can be there in person with any loved ones you choose, or opt for a livestream. A livestream can also be added for loved ones who cannot attend.
